Boston Faces Need To Clear Four 40-Man Spots By Monday
The Red Sox must free up four 40-man roster spots by Monday, when seven players on the 60-day IL have to be added back to the roster, with that number rising if they protect minor leaguers from the Rule 5 draft or minor league free agency. The Chaim and Nate Eaton trades are the first of what is expected to be a series of moves before the deadline hits.
