Toronto Raptors centre Jakob Poeltl is averaging 2.8 points a game, and Darko Rajakovic just called himself a "big Jak believer." Here's why that should worry you.

Jakob Poeltl was the centre the Toronto Raptors couldn't live without. They went 4-28 without him in 2023-24, then he had the best season of his career in 2024-25 (14.5 points, 9.6 rebounds, 62.7% from the field) and Bobby Webster gave him a 4-year, $104 million extension. Four games into 2026-27, he has 11 points, 15 fouls and fewer minutes than Trayce Jackson-Davis, the third-string centre Toronto got for a second-round pick. Ben Rogers breaks down what NBA teams usually mean when they say they believe in a player (DeMarcus Cousins, DeMar DeRozan, Jimmy Butler, Brandon Ingram, Jaylen Brown), how Poeltl became so important to the Raptors, how far he has fallen, and whether Trayce Jackson-Davis should take his minutes.

Who would you rather see start for the Raptors next game: Trayce Jackson-Davis or Jakob Poeltl? Comment T or J.
