Kyrie And Flagg Shine But Supporting Cast Struggles In Opener
Irving (15 points in his first regular-season game in 597 days) and Flagg (32 points, the most ever by a teenager in a season opener) combined for 47 points on 16-of-26 shooting, yet Dallas was outscored by 8 in the roughly 13 minutes neither was on the floor and trailed 70-38 at halftime. The source said that Flag and Kyrie would be good enough and everyone else wouldn't be, and the other starters, including PJ Washington at minus-27, could not hold the line.
