🚨 PADRES RUMOR! Today, Andrew McFarland goes through FanSided's Oct. 22 ranking of eight mock trade suitors for Padres closer Mason Miller. Miller finished 2026 with 38 saves, a 1.67 ERA, a 0.90 WHIP and 129 strikeouts in 70 innings. These are mock packages from writer John Perrotto, not reported trade talks, and nothing here is official.

Padres Digest breaks down which teams are mocked for Mason Miller, what prospects they would send, and whether any of it makes sense for a San Diego team that wants to win right now with Adrian Morejon and Jason Adam headed to free agency.

🏈 WHO WANTS MASON MILLER
FanSided mocks the Yankees, Phillies, Dodgers, Mets, Mariners, Red Sox, Cubs and Giants as Miller suitors. Several of those teams have closer questions of their own heading into the offseason. Which teams actually need a closer? Who is the Padres' closer if Miller leaves? What happens to the bullpen with Morejon and Adam set to hit free agency?

📊 MASON MILLER'S 2026 STATS
Miller went 5-2 with 38 saves, a 1.67 ERA, a 0.90 WHIP and 129 strikeouts in 70 innings, per Baseball Savant. He is a two-time All-Star and is not eligible for free agency until 2029. FanSided projects him to earn about $8 million through arbitration next season. How do his 2026 numbers compare to the closers on the teams calling?

⚾ POSSIBLE MOCK TRADES: METS, CUBS, YANKEES
The Mets mock package is Jonah Tong, Jefferson Rojas and Elian Peña. The Cubs mock package is Jaxon Wiggins and Josiah Hartshorn. The Yankees mock package is Elmer Rodríguez, Carlos Lagrange and Dax Kilby. Which of these prospects are ready to help in 2027? Do any of them help the Padres compete now?

⚾ NOT LIKELY AND NEVER HAPPENING
The Mariners mock package is Ryan Sloan. The Red Sox mock package is Justin Gonzales, Jake Schaffner and Franklin Primera. The Phillies mock package is Andrew Painter, Wen-Hui Pan and Francisco Renteria. The Dodgers mock package is Mike Sirota. The Giants mock package is José Buttó and Josuar Gonzalez. Would the Padres ever trade a closer to the Dodgers or Giants? Does any prospect package help them win right now?
