Pistons Give Ausar Thompson More On-Ball Reps
Detroit is deliberately building on-ball reps for Ausar Thompson, a shift for a wing teams used to dare to shoot. He received 10 on-ball screens in one preseason game after hitting double-digit screens only five times all of last season, and Bickerstaff has said the team wants him to be the lead dog with the ball in his hands. In the opener versus Boston he posted 11 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes, including the go-ahead pull-up from six feet off a Cade Cunningham pass with 41 seconds left.
