Skubal's Ace Season Came With An Asterisk

Skubal threw 158.2 innings with a 2.72 ERA, 2.21 FIP and 0.96 WHIP in 2026, walking just 3.6% of hitters for 4.6 pitching WAR. A midseason trade from Detroit to Los Angeles and an elbow procedure to remove a loose particle cost him five starts, ending his run at a third straight Cy Young. McDaniel flags Tommy John in 2016, flexor tendon surgery in 2022 and the 2026 loose particle, with Skubal turning 30 in November.
