Padres Dodgers Rumor

Michael King Opts Out, Wipes Out $58 Million

Michael King turned down his player option with the Padres, erasing the final two years and $58 million of his deal and taking a $5 million buyout into free agency. MLB ranked him the second-best pitcher on the market behind Skubal after a 3.21 ERA over 185 innings and 32 starts, and because he already received a qualifying offer last winter, signing him costs no draft picks, making him a clean fallback for Los Angeles.
