Longtime Pirates writer John Perrotto wrote for Pittsburgh Baseball Now that Paul Skenes will not spend his career in Pittsburgh, with his arbitration salary projected to blow past the club's comfort zone after next season. Skenes made $1,085,000 this season and MLB Trade Rumors projects him at $7.2 million for 2027, just shy of the record for a pitcher in his first arbitration year.
