PatriotsPatriots Writer Floats Khalil Mack As Trade Target
A Patriots writer has suggested the 0-6 Chargers' veteran edge rusher Khalil Mack should be on New England's list, with edge rusher among six positions NBC Sports Boston says the team should upgrade by the deadline. Mack has three sacks and 16 pressures in six games, while Patriots sack leader Elijah Ponder has five and a half and no other New England player has more than three. The complication is money: Mack is reportedly due $18 million on a one-year deal and the Patriots have the NFL's lowest cap space at $1.5 million, so any deal hinges on Los Angeles eating salary, and the Chargers have reportedly shut down calls on all their veterans this week.
