3 Trade Targets for the 4-2 Cleveland Browns
With an unexpectedly successful season thus far for the Browns, lets take a look at some potential trade targets for the team as we inch closer to the deadline
Potential Browns Trade Targets:
RB Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles
With Jalen Hurts scheduled to miss the rest of the season, many have concluded that the Eagles' playoff hopes are over and are inclined to believe the team will be selling at this year's deadline. After the sudden retirement of Lane Johnson, it was only a matter of time before rumblings began about the loss of other players, with star running back Saquon Barkley immediately coming to mind. Although Quinshon Judkins showed flashes of being an elite running back last season, he has struggled out of the gate early on this year. The addition of a proven veteran to split the workload with Judkins could be just what he needs to get things going, and for the right price, Philly should be inclined to move on from the 30-year-old stud.
DE Khalil Mack, Los Angeles Chargers
Perhaps the only bigger shock this year than the Browns early success is the absolute disaster taking place in Los Angeles. As of week seven, the Chargers have yet to win a game, and any thoughts of making the playoffs are long gone. Khalil Mack is 35 years old and will be a free agent this offseason, making him a logical choice to move on from if you're LA. Despite his old age, Mack remains an extremely solid player who shows flashes of elite play on a weekly basis. Although the Browns defence is one of the highest-ranked units in the entire NFL, there is still some room for improvement, especially at DE. The addition of Mack could provide veteran leadership and what also create a ferocious duo alongside recently acquired Jared Verse
RB Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts
Now I know this one might be a little bit ambitious; however, a splash like this could be exactly what Cleveland needs to solidify themselves as serious contenders in the AFC. Colts owner Carly Irsay Gordon showed she does not mess around when it comes to her football team, firing GM Chris Ballard after ten seasons. Ballard's departure paired with the Colts horrific start to the season likely means the team is going to clean house at this year's deadlines, with many of their star players on the block. Jonathan Taylor is one of the best players in the entire NFL, so his price won't be cheap, but if Browns GM Andrew Berry wants to make a splash, this would be the way to do so. Other notable Colts players, such as Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, could be options for the Browns as well.
